Arianna Huffington is the editor and president of the Huffington Post and is one of the most influential women in the world. She has had careers in politics and as a writer before starting the Huffington Post. She has written 15 books and become a leader in personal development. Here are her 3 recommendations for a fulfilled life.
Balance work and sleep. After experiencing a breakdown caused my exhaustion she realized that balance is a pre-requisite for success. Get enough sleep. Working 15 hour days is not the path to success. Exhaustion destroys clarity, innovation and creativity, all necessary for achieving your goals. She says that a joyful, successful and inspired life comes from getting the right amount of sleep.
Fulfillment does not come from the normal measures of success; money, power and position. It is personal development and well-being that create the foundation for happiness. Thriving is a byproduct of wisdom, wonder, well-being and giving. She advises that you take the time to recharge and step back from your outwardly focused life and go inside. Meditation and positive life experiences help create a great foundation upon which you can build your life.
Do not let fear run your life. To move beyond fear she suggests you exercise your fear so you know it, become conscious of it and no longer allow it to run your life. She has said, “To live in fear is the worst form of insult to our true selves.” Arianna suggests you look at your fear and do what you know you must do and embrace other’s reaction instead of fearing them. See the fear as a primal reaction and decide to move forward in spite of that reaction.
