Marketing Cosmetic Surgery to Youth

Marketing Cosmetic Surgery to Youth

An ethical debate is starting around cosmetic surgery. It revolves around the promotion by the medical community of elective procedures to youth under 18 years of age. Physicians are using social media, apps and advertising aimed at youth to convey the message that elective cosmetic surgery is desirable, adding pressure to youth to conform to an ideal of beauty when they are particularly susceptible to peer pressure.

Mindfulness and Anger

Mindfulness and Anger

When a desire with attachment is thwarted or denied, it turns to anger. Anger arises from dissatisfaction, from not getting what you want or getting what you don’t want, from the expectation unfulfilled. You become more and more attached to your expected outcome and when it doesn’t arrive you get angry. You seek wholeness, completion, and happiness in the fulfillment of desire with attachment and are constantly in dissatisfaction. Dissatisfaction is the main form of suffering. Dissatisfaction and anger arise from feeling limited, betrayed, from not speaking up, from being pushed around, by not being seen or heard, by being passive and feeling futility. It starts as resentment. Resentment turns into frustration. Frustration turns into anger and becomes rage when not addressed.

Chronic fatigue helped by exercise

Chronic fatigue helped by exercise

The Lancet reports that researchers have confirmed that chronic fatigue is significantly improved by exercise that was both guided and graded. Fatigue was lessened and physical function improved. In the tests physio-therapists guided patients through a self-help booklet of graded exercise one time in person and then followed up 3 times on the phone. The patient was then on his/her own for the 12 week trial.

Self-Forgiveness and Shame

Self-Forgiveness and Shame

Transformation is bringing what is hidden into awareness and feeling it. How do you really feel about yourself? Do you ever feel you are unworthy or unlovable? What lies beneath these feelings? Do you remember times when you made a mistake, forgot something important, broke a vow, crashed the car, lost your keys, got really angry, failed a test, got lost in addiction, told a lie? Were you filled with guilt and shame? Did this make you feel you were not good enough? And underneath all of it, is there sadness? Maybe some fear?

Anasazi-Beans

Dating back to 130 A.D, The Anasazi Indians lived in the four corners area ( now Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico) and are recognized for their architectural achievements known today as "cliff dwellings"."Anasazi" is a Navajo word perhaps best translated as "the ancient ones".

Anasazi Beans were one of the few crops cultivated by the Anasazi. These heirloom beans are most commonly used in Latin, Mexican and Southwestern cuisine; they turn pink when cooked and are used in refried beans, chilis and hearty stews. Mindfulness and Worry

Mindfulness and Worry

Worry is born from a lack of trust. You have tried to control life, especially when you feel insecure and vulnerable. When you feel your life is unstable you begin to project into the future and worry. You lose trust when you lose stability, when you lose connection to a strong foundation inside. You imagine all the negative possibilities; poverty, homelessness, being alone. You stoke fear-based energies. These arise when you feel disconnected internally and fear arises.

Living life in peace

Living life in peace

Internal peace and fulfillment are the two basic things we want. But we live our lives basically in opposition to peace and fulfillment because we resist life. If resistance to life was gone we would simply exist in peace and fulfillment because that is our essential nature.

The Purpose and Intention of Yoga

The Purpose and Intention of Yoga

In the west yoga has become exercise and stretching. But the true meaning of yoga is to experience and understand your true nature.
