Finding purpose in tragedy

Finding purpose in tragedy

I hold a belief that everything is perfect, divine. That belief gets challenged when things like Orlando shootings, refugees in Syria, the death of a loved one, divorce and starvation in the Sudan happen. What could possibly be even remotely positive about this? I have gone from profoundly sad to angry to trying to understand. It has brought up a great deal inside me.

I realized I can’t find understanding on the level that these things are happening. That is too overwhelmingly disturbing and hurts too deeply. So I must go to a different, broader perspective and try to understand.

As my consciousness expands and as the consciousness of the world expands, that expanded energy brings everything that is hidden inside us to the surface to become aware of, feel and resolve. This is part of the larger picture of the evolution of humanity. As this happens on earth, the polarities become accentuated and those in resistance are faced with what is unresolved inside of them and lash out.

This process is sometimes heartbreaking, but it also raises awareness, expands understanding and promotes compassion inside you and me if we allow it to. It reminds us of our common humanity. It makes us look inside of us to see what is unresolved and what must be resolved. I said in the first paragraph that this has brought up a great deal inside of me. That is part of the purpose in all of this. It brings up so much. And it is awareness that is the gift from this. Tragedy, in all its horror, has the power to raise awareness. With expanded awareness comes resolution, fulfillment and peace.
