Real dangers in using aluminum foil

Real dangers in using aluminum foil

Since 2012, scientific studies (International Journal of Electrochemical Science and others) have conclusively proven that aluminum leaches into food when you cook your food in aluminum foil. Just how much appears to depend on how high a temperature you cook at and the acidity of the food you are cooking, as well as spices used. The higher the temperature, the more acidic the food and the more salt used, all increase absorption. This is one of the main ways you get aluminum into your system.

Over time, if you cook, grill or bake your food in aluminum foil the aluminum will leach into your food and then be absorbed into your body when eaten.

The WHO (World Health Organization) has determined that it is safe to ingest up to 40 mg per kilogram of body weight per day. People who use aluminum foil are ingesting far more than the safe dose.

One of the frightening studies shows that Alzheimer’s patients consistently have higher rates of aluminum in their brain tissue. Aluminum has been shown to reduce the growth rate in human cells, causing problems for patients with bone and renal diseases.

It is recommended that you cut way back on cooking with aluminum foil and use glass or stainless steel pans.
