Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a spiritual teacher who works to eliminate stress and violence in the world and in our personal lives. He teaches describe the oneness of all people that transcends race, nationality and religion. He was born in 1956 in southern India and was known as a brilliant and deeply spiritual child.
Sri Sri founded The Art of Living as a non-profit, educational and humanitarian organization. The Art of Living educational and self-development programs offer powerful tools to eliminate stress and foster a sense of well-being. His teachings revolve around meditation and focus on breathe practices and teachings about the unity of all people.
As for religion he tells us that God lies within all of us. God is everywhere and is what we are. He says it is our customs and symbols that differentiate religions, and the customs are the main source of intolerance in the world.
Sri Sri believes love is the indestructible, essential constituent of life and the divine, and that is the answer to dissolving intolerance, stress and unresolved emotions. Love takes us beyond differences and beyond even distinctions of good and bad. He says to love everyone, even if there are differences in traditions, beliefs, race, sex or caste.
He tells us to be flexible and accepting of others and remain without judgment. Rigidity and resistance are harmful. Love, compassion and enthusiasm are core values to be expanded. Joy is available to us only in the present moment. He has said, "Violence-free society, disease-free body, quiver-free breath, confusion-free mind, inhibition-free intellect, trauma-free memory, and sorrow-free soul is the birthright of every human being.”
