Unless you can maintain an easy, comfortable, long-term diet plan you will be condemned to perpetually gaining and losing and re-gaining weight and never achieve balance. Here are some suggestions for a simple approach that can bring life-style results that you can live with for managing weight.
The MindfulnessGreen 10% weight management plan is simple, straight forward and effective. It is not meant as medical advice or even diet advice. It is a mindful lifestyle solution.
There are factors that are within your control and there are factors that are not within your control that affect your weight. Genetics is out of your immediate control. But most factors are adjustable. We are suggesting that you lean into and micro-adjust these factors.
Slowly work up to adding 10% more movement or exercise to you general life. That could mean take the stairs and skip the elevator. Walk after dinner and skip that 30 minute TV broadcast a few times a week. If you go to the gym, slowly increase either your weight 10% or your repetitions 10% or your time 10%.
Our society revolves around food. We use food to distract us from our negative emotions. We are conditioned from childhood that sugar and fried foods are better tasting and a prize for acceptable behavior. Every time you reach for something sugary or fried, 10% of the time say no, or eat 10% less of it and leave that 10% on the plate.
Vitamins and minerals:
If you are missing essential nutrients your system will not function properly and will cause you to move into craving. Look at your meal and add 10% more greens. Look at your meal and add 10% fruit or vegetable. Maybe put blueberries on your morning cereal. Maybe add lettuce or corn to your bowl at Chipotle.
Proteins, fats and carbohydrates:
Many of us are addicted to fats and fried foods. Many of us eat too much processed meats. We love our donuts and trans-fats. Reduce your French fry consumption by 10%. Order the small instead of the large size. When the waitress says, “would you like coleslaw or chips as a side”, answer “coleslaw”. Reduce the bacon from 3 strips to 1 or 2 strips.
