It is a critically important understanding to realize that people have a higher Self and a human self. We all have a spiritual, divine if you like, aspect that is rooted in the higher consciousness of love and peace and expanded connection. But we all also have the conditioning, limitations and ego that create the issues, separation, and the conflicts and needs we all feel.
When we seek a relationship we idealize the higher Self but we get both sides of the person we are in relationship with. It’s our ideal vs our reality OR it’s our knight on the white stallion coming to take us to the castle vs the drudgery and struggles of everyday life.
We need to see this clearly. We want the perfect mate. We want the castle and the blissful love we see on the Hallmark channel. But what we end up is disappointment and in that disappointment and unrealized expectation, we get sad. Then we start to criticize our mate and wish for something else. We lose acceptance and allowing for the other. This is a struggle of epic proportions playing out in the world today. This is why over half of marriages end.
If you are entering a new relationship or are in one currently, take a close look at both sides of your partner. See their kindness and compassion and higher Self and look deeply to recognize that and be grateful for it. Also recognize, with compassion, that that person has deep conditioning and pain that is in the process of seeking resolution. There is ego and needs that will be expressed. If you don’t see this reality, there will be problems later. This process is conscious, honest assessment.
